Greetings!

It was a dream...now a reality. What started out as a brainstorming session 10 years ago is now on the brink of a major milestone, the culmination of years of hard work. Next month, CHIRP Radio will begin broadcasting on 107.1FM. This isn't a drill. It's truly happening.

That's what makes this Fall Fundraising Campaign so special. A few weeks after the end of the drive, the transmitter will fire up and CHIRP radio will be on FM radios around the north side of Chicago (never fear, the web broadcast will still continue.) What also makes this drive crucial is there will be $10,000 to $15,000 in new annual cost for maintaining the FM signal. If you have not given to CHIRP in the past, now is the time! If you have given, I thank you and appreciate your crucial support in bring ing CHIRP radio to this point. May I count on you for another contribution?

I am proud to be one of the 200 volunteers that keep this station running. I have been involved in the Music Department nearly since the day I started volunteering and my weekly show, The Friday Afternoon Happy Hour (3 to 6PM, Friday afternoons,) had it's fifth anniversary (hard to believe) this past May. When one is surrounded by people that love to volunteer for an organization such as CHIRP, that love independent radio, and are passionate about music...well, I guess time flies!

My personal goal for this drive is $1,000. As a station, we're looking to raise $25,000 before the end of the drive on September 22nd. It would be great to count you (again) as a CHIRP supporter.
